Went As 2 Left As 3

At this point I am sure that many of you know...Landen Hugh East is here. I am definitely crossed till at the point of extreme excitement and also a little bit scared. Excited that God has blessed Lyndsey and myself with the opportunity to be parents, but at the same time somewhat scared of that responsibility. Scared because I know that a time will come that he will hurt or feel pain and there will be nothing that I can do. I look forward to this journey knowing that it will bring my closer both to my God and to Lyns.
Lyns was such a trooper. I am blessed to have such an incredible wife and Landen is blessed to have such an amazing mother.
I think that the coolest part in all this is that Landen coming has been such a great worship experience. It is hard for me to grasp after being a part of this how someone cant see that we were fearfully and wonderfully made by a creative and loving God. During the whole process of labor and the c-section I don't know if i have ever cried out to God more. So God thanks for this and thanks for the many times that will come that you will use my family to draw me closer to You.

Too Long

It has been a while ... since my last post. To all who follow my blog, which I am sure there are many, I apologize for the lack of posting. So here is a catch up of all that has been going on since my last post. I did successfully put together all of the baby furniture. I only had two extra parts left (sorry Landen). My father in law got all the trim and molding up in the baby room. We got over 700 diapers from the baby shower. I hear that it wont last that long. We also had our Be Real weekend with the students. Look for video coming soon. So there is a quick recap. I'll keep up a little better.

Baby Furniture

The time has finally come for baby furniture to get put together. I am going to pick up a crib, 3 drawer dresser, and a 5 drawer/changing table dresser. So please pray for me. I am sort of handy, but I have this patience frustration thing that can take over some times. If I need any help I'll call you.

Another College Post

Guys college dorm is all that needs to be said! While on our visit to my old stomping grounds, we stayed in the guys dorm. Now I will be honest and admit that staying in the dorms while I was in college was one of the best parts of college. I mean you truly never know what may happen in the dorm. So here is my point while staying there over this past weekend, it hit me, "was I really like this when I was in college?" With this question came many more like: "why in the world did my wife marry me, how did I graduate, and did I really use those bathrooms?" So to all who stayed in a dorm through college, I challenge you to take a trip back to your old stomping grounds. You never know how much you have changed until you see how much you have changed. (wow that is deep, I'll give that one away for free)

Father

Father I will be soon! So i am reading this book called "Becoming a Dad," and i recommend to soon to be father or even current father. There is a section on being your kids hero. So here is the quote from the book. Let me know what you think.
"There is a difference between heroes and idols. Heroes fight for justice and are compassionate. Heroes take risks and are brave. Heroes walk in humility and are modest. Idols are false gods and are powerless. Idols are propped up and phony. Idols are made in the image of man, not the image of God. Being your child's hero isn't about shoes you have to fill, because you are already in them. Your choice is to either stand up in those emotional and spiritual shoes or take them off."

- More to come this weekend from the book and Catalyst.

Your in Georgia

This one goes out to Gary! So I am on my way up to Georgia for a conference and being born and raised in the great GA, you expect certain things. Well of course my great state did not fail me. As Chad (our kids pastor) and I made the journey into Georgia there was plenty of signs for pecans and peaches, and signs for log homes. There is always the great water towers that are shaped and painted just like a peach. I must admit though that they look like booty's. Now here is when I really knew we were in the GA. We stopped to go to the potty and as I made my way in, I found ... drum roll ... someones tainted underoos that they messed and left for my enjoyment. Well welcome to the peach state. BOOM

One More Time

Baby coming soon so our amazing students got together with the help of our adult volunteers and gave us one more getaway before the little guy comes. So we are enjoying two nights in the ORL. Thanks so much to our awesome students and adults with Reflect. We will be spending today at Downtown Disney and dinner and a movie tonight. Tomorrow we will be going to the Swiss store IKEA. If you have not been, GO! You don't even have to buy anything. Trust me guys on this one, it is good times. PLus they have huge buggies (or as you Florida people say carts). Anyways thanks again for everything. Love you all. Thanks for the getaway!

Illusion

Last night we got to see an illusionist, his name Brock Gill. Very interesting stuff, I must admit. The cool part is that he ties everything in with the message of Christ. Now being that he is a Christian does make it a little easier for me to think that he is not crazy or lost his mind. The guys pretty much placed death and chance in the same hand. So to Brock Gill I say thanks for doing what you do and making this all a little less confusing. Most of all thanks for sharing the message of Christ to students in a clear and relevant way. Also because I know that Brock frequently visits my blog, I would really like to be one of your illusions. Not in the illusion but be one. So thanks!

Small Group Gone Big

And along came a snake. This is one of those times that you truly wish you had a video camera. I will have to invest in one of those phones that has video. My phone does it all except video. GRRR! Anyways that sounds like another blog. Story is simple. Sunday night we had our student ministry small group with the guys. We where at a family's house from our church. We arrive, eat, and before our Bible and discussion time the guys play some hoops on the street. While playing the ball would go in this really small drainage ditch. Of course being guys you just go and get it, and they did. Eventually after a couple of times someone noticed a black thing moving in the water. IT WAS A SNAKE! Well they kept playing. Soon after the father of the home we where at found out that it was a WATER MOCCASIN. By the way a very poisonous and aggressive snake. After about 20 minutes of trying to get it out of the pipe under the driveway we successfully took it down. We pinned it with a heavy rake and then took a shovel to its head. We eventually had to get it to the concrete where we finished the job be separating the head from the body. I must say good times. Thanks to the brave students who took on this snake and also to Jeremy with the quick shovel blow.

Husband Gene

This blog is more of question. I was on yahoo this morning, mainly because it is my home page, when I came across this article. http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20080902/hl_hsn/bondinggenecouldhelpmenstaymarried

It goes on to state that there is a study showing that males may possess a "bonding gene" which ultimately can determine if you will be a good husband or not. I must admit that I was a little sketchy on the "alcohol gene" but this one has no room for question. Let me know what you think about this so called gene. Read the article. I do have to give the scientist studying this some credit. He did say that this is not something to justify a guys inability to commit. I am sure that this will now be an excuse.

America

Camel Wrestling

So I am pretty sure that America misses out on some of the greatest sports ever known. Ye we have football and Lebron James, but do we have camels that wrestle? I mean look at all the people gathered to watch this. People are clapping, yelling, and dancing to great cultural music. So to America I say bring in the camels. Wrestling animals that have humps, we definitely need it.

Just Thinking

It is a wonder that I still somehow can hang with the students. Sunday night I went to a Christian hardcore show. For those of you readers who do not know what hardcore music is check out the link http://www.purevolume.com/theblackregiment (one of the bands at the show). Needless to say this is some crazy stuff. I was entertained not only by shredding guitars, crashing drums, and the vocalist who mainly screams, but entertainment also came as teenagers hardcore danced. It pretty much involves swinging of arms, kicking of legs, banging of head, and all while maintaining a two step rhythm. Here is the the thought - who thought of this? It really ponders me. Don't get me wrong I have definitely grown very fond of this music. It makes up about 30% of my ipod, but I want to meet the first screamer, and I want to ask him, "So were you singing and then someone scared you or you just magically tried it." I also want to meet the first hardcore dancer. "So were you in karate class and the screamer guy showed up and you both were like, millions of people will love this." a thought

Got to love it.

Balled Out!

This is something I could definitely see as fun. I love playing sports. Having a son is going to be a cool thing. Being able to teach someone to play catch and to shoot a basketball. Hopefully, Landen will be interested in sports. If not well then we can always do something like the video above. Sports are fun but throw in an over sized soccer ball and a kid that is willing to take a hit, now that is a sport. I wonder if he thought this was a good idea after the crushing blow from the biggest ball I have ever seen. Just throwing this out there, I really think this had to be a youth group. Being a youth pastor, it just really makes a lot of sense. I have seen students ride on mattresses and water skis behind a truck. I have also seen students take a dive into a mall fountain and a student put on a speedo and stand on the corner waving at people as they pass. This screams youth group. Lord please protect our little guy.

So Fast

The first time has come. I am beginning to feel that little guy move. It really makes you think, if I can feel that it must be a wild feeling for Lyndsey. I would compare it to dropping some pop rocks in your mouth that somehow make it all the way to your stomach. I am sure that is not reality but that is how I imagine it. More to come soon. Can't wait to see the imprint of his foot on the belly. It will come fast I am sure.

Wild

So it is hard to understand, how they are even able to do this (this referring to the sonogram picture above which by the way is a 3D image). I mean at some point you have to think this really makes no sense at all. I mean they took some jelly and slapped it on Lyns belly (rhymer). Then out came what appeared to be a T shaped wand, and before you knew it they were showing us a picture of the little guy on a screen. It really baffles me! They also were able to let us hear the heart beat and print off pics. It truly is an amazing thing. I remember looking at Lyns when we he first popped up on the screen. It was like we both had that look like, WOW this is the real deal. By the way for Christmas, I would like a sonogram machine.

What They See

So we went to Sonny's BBQ for supper. It is beginning to be one of Lyndsey's top craved places, and I guess the little guys also. They have this new phenomenon at Sonny's, pulled chicken. Seriously, why did they just now come out with this one. I feel like we have all been cheated out for the past 40 years (since Sonny's started up in 1968) * free history lesson. What was interesting is as we walk into the bbq joint to enjoy some great food everyone is giving us the eye. We all know how the eye feels. Inside their minds they are trying to figure who you are or why you look the way you do. Here is our synopsis on this whole stare down at Sonny's. Lets be honest, for many people we appear to be a young teenage couple (see picture above to judge yourself). So when people see us they think oh my goodness they are having a baby and they are only teenagers. This process works very well now that Lyndsey is showing that there is actually a baby inside. I think it is hilarious. I try and make sure people really know that she is pregnant by rubbing her belly. It makes for lots of great stares from the eyes. So next time you get the eye think to yourself, if only I was at Sonny's right now having pulled chicken.

The Beginning

So we are having a little boy. It really has not struck me yet. Of course it has struck Lyndsey as she is carrying the little guy. I think what scares me the most though is there will be another Warren running around. This really hit me when we took our graduated seniors up to Atlanta for a day at Six Flags. We stopped for a bite to eat at Arby's. By the way why do they even give you the choice for straight or curly fries, we all know that we want the curly ones. As we were eating, someone said something that was hilarious. Turns out that right before it was said I had taken a huge sip of my water. You guessed it! I sprayed water all over the couple sitting next to us, luckily is was my best friend and his wife. Also to top it off as I leaned over a ripped a big one (in normal words I farted). The receiver of this gush of air happened to be my brother's girlfriend. I have never seen Lyndsey laugh so hard. She was crying. I am sure that Landen (the little guy in her belly) was wondering what was going on. If he really only knew how much of a dork his father is. So you have to see what I am saying here. Another Warren in this world is scary. Let us all hope that he is like his mom.
